What’s even worse for Donald Trump than a whistleblower who’s brought evidence to the surface that Donald Trump tried to criminally conspire with Ukraine to rig the 2020 election in his favor? How about a second whistleblower who can corroborate the first whistleblower, and has even more damning information?
That’s precisely the scenario that’s on the verge of playing out tonight. There is another intel community official who is preparing to file a whistleblower complaint of his own – and to testify to the House impeachment inquiry – about Donald Trump’s Ukraine scandal. The New York Times, which broke the story, says that this new whistleblower has already gone so far as to testify to the Intelligence Community Inspector General in the name of corroborating the first whistleblower’s story.
Not only does this help to prove that the first whistleblower was telling the truth, the Times says that the second whistleblower has “more direct knowledge” of Donald Trump’s Ukraine scandal than the first one does. There goes Trump’s argument that the first whistleblower report was mere “hearsay.”
Our interpretation of the NY Times report is that the second whistleblower has essentially come forward already by meeting with the Inspector General, and the only remaining question is a legal one about whether he or she will need to also file a complaint as a formality, in order to gain whistleblower protection. It sounds like this person has already decided to testify to the House impeachment inquiry.
